Non-Invasive Measurement/Estimation of Blood Glucose

NineSigma, representing a global food manufacturer with sales of multi-billion dollars, seeks technologies to measure or estimate blood glucose levels in a non-invasive manner. In this RFP, proposals for technology that is intended for human use and is at least in the prototype stage.

The average life expectancy grows longer globally. The significance of technologies that offer simple ways to monitor the human body conditions is becoming greater. The Client has worked on the development of non-invasive blood glucose monitoring technology with great usability. They have faced challenges in terms of accuracy and other aspects compared to the existing invasive modes of measurement, which require blood collection. In the meantime, as sensing devices are becoming smaller and more sophisticated, and data analysis technologies more advanced, there are now possibilities of simple monitoring devices becoming a reality.

Possible approaches may include but are not limited to:
• (Infrared) light/laser spectrometry
• Measurement of glucose levels in a cellular interstitial fluid using an adhesive skin patch
• Indirect measurement of levels of components found in sweat or skin gas that correlates with glucose levels, using wearable devices such as biosensor, an electromagnetic sensor, and ultrasonic sensor
• Improvement of accuracy through a combination of one of the above and AI or other data analysis technologies

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by Feb 10, 2021.
